Kobelco Research supports problem-solving for consumer electronics manufacturers and a wide variety of component producers and automotive-related firms, as well as lithium battery and solar cell development! For lithium batteries, we offer comprehensive analysis and evaluation to all customers using XPS, TEM, SEM, and a variety of other specialized equipment. Battery simulation capabilities also include visualization-based evaluation. We support comprehensive examination of all structural materials and material stocks for products, including cathodes/anodes, separators, and electrolytes. For solar cell-related analysis and evaluation, we offer highly accurate analysis leveraging the trace analysis technologies that we have developed over time. Our wide-ranging areas of technical work include materials, corrosion/anti-corrosion, analysis, welding, and structures/strength. Our engineering PhDs, consulting engineers, and other specialized technical personnel with a wealth of practical experience handle issues from a customer perspective. Corrosion resistance of metal, surface-treated, polymer and other types of materials is evaluated through several types of corrosion testing, including field condition simulations. We also assist in investigations of the cause of corrosion-related accidents and corrective action, and in problem-solving in areas such as new corrosion-resistant materials and surface treatment technologies.

We perform comprehensive testing and research as analytic support for research and development in the accelerating area of IT. Beyond support for analysis in semiconductor-related businesses, we address diverse R&D and manufacturing problems in IT industries. For semiconductor devices, mounting, and packaging, we offer a full menu of results and services, including reliability testing, failure analysis, materials evaluation, and CAE contract analysis. For failure analysis, our specialties include bonded surface observation through low-damage, cross-sectional sample preparation utilizing ultrasonic microscopy and X-ray CT -based non-destructive testing.
